What is Crawford Bay Commons?

Crawford Bay Commons describes a place on Kootenay Lake and the projects undertaken by member stewards of Crawford Bay Commons Cooperative Association (CBCCA) incorporated on Jan.13, 2012.

This site is one component of the CBCCA communication project.

Robert Agnew, a Commons resident steward, is the current author, acting as the communication coordinator for the Commons.  Over time this site is intended to provide transparent access to a wide range of useful information for members and their projects.

It is also our understanding is that prospective members would like information and access to various resources to enable them to participate.

It is recommended that prospective members become familiar with the 7 Principles of Cooperation.

It is our intention to provide information about the Commons, how it is organized, and how to participate.

The founding Board of Directors are considering:

1. Projects to support by providing access to land and land-based resources, and

2. A draft membership application process, and

3. A template for project proposals,  and

4. A draft of the Land Use Agreement, and

5. A stewardship agreement to protect the values of the Commons land and resources, and

6. A draft Purchase and Sale Agreement for the land located at 16345 Cedar Road, Crawford Bay, British Columbia, Canada.

Links to pictures, maps, and information about this land will be added to this site as they are developed.

General meetings of the Commons Stewards took place around the Spring Equinox in 2012 and 2013.

Meanwhile: Try a little cooperation wherever you are, whoever you are with, and whatever you are doing.

So glad to see the Commons on its way! Don’t know if I can make it this weekend (April 6) but would love to!
